Your first visit will be your initial evaluation. It will be approximately one hour long with one of our doctors of physical therapy. The session will begin by reviewing your medical history, the reason for your visit, treatment goals and any concerns you may have. Once the therapists has completed a thorough subjective assessment, she will decipher appropriate tests and measures to gain further insight into what is causing your symptoms. Some examples of test and measures that may be performed include range of motion of your joints, flexibility, strength, endurance, soft tissue assessment, balance, posture and vitals. If an internal examination is appropriate based on your presentation, the physical therapists will advise you at this time. Please read below for more information on this portion. After the examination is completed, the therapists will take time to discuss a thorough assessment as to what is causing your discomfort. This will also entail an appropriate plan of care to address your concerns. The therapists will explain different treatment methods that may be used and the preferred frequency for your care.

If the physical therapists feels an internal or external pelvic examination is appropriate for your treatment, they will advise you at the time of your appointment. We understand that you are coming to our office with a problem so we try to make this experience as comfortable as possible. An internal exam is not a requirement, and you will have a conversation with your therapist that will go over what they think will be most beneficial for your condition. Your examination will take place in one of our five private treatment rooms. Our therapists will talk you through the whole process so you understand what we are assessing. Important aspects that we focus on include the strength, endurance and mobility of your muscles. If you have any questions regarding this visit, please give us a call and we would be happy to connect you with one of our therapists.
